Characteristics and comment: Beautiful variety hybridised from Zijun Li in China, hardy waterlily with deep purple flower, wonderful plant good for any size of ponds, grown in shallow water to have a good growth and flowering.

ISG water lilies are cultivated simply like any hardy water lily - purchase the rhizome, prepare an adequately sized pot with heavy, clay soil, insert the water lily rhizome while compacting the soil to prevent the rhizome from escaping the pot, place it in the pond or water feature and position it at the bottom.

These are water lilies that can be positioned at depths of 30-50 cm. They can be placed in deeper water but struggle more to grow and produce flowers. Having tropical blood, they start growing and developing later compared to hardy varieties.

This type of water lily needs more nutrients compared to normal hardy water lilies, so good fertilization with Pondtabbs is strongly recommended and gives fantastic results in terms of flower quantity produced and healthy plant growth.

ISG water lilies are not like classic hardy varieties that can be left there for years without division, because while hardy water lilies can survive even in precarious conditions, ISGs could die if not divided frequently (at least every two or three years).

The mother plant that grows in the first year might not survive the following year, so it's good for these plants to produce small offspring from which new plants will develop for the following year. These small plants, if fertilized correctly and transplanted, develop very rapidly, and from a tiny rhizome within a month I will have a beautiful flowering plant.

These plants need prolonged and direct sun exposure to grow best.

These are water lilies created by mixing hardy water lilies with tropical water lilies. From this union come water lilies that have the hardiness characteristics of hardy water lilies and features such as colors, shapes, and fragrance of tropical water lilies - they are water lilies that can easily survive outdoors even in places where it freezes and have characteristics of tropical water lilies. For years, people tried to create a water lily with blue or blue-like color, a color that belongs and belonged only to tropical water lilies. With this technique, they managed to create water lilies that approach blue/azure/purple colors, but that can remain outside even in winter in cold places without problems.
