Description

Louisiana irises are hardy varieties, suited to growing in wet areas and along pond edges, but also in ordinary soil or in pots, as long as they are watered adequately.

They can be bought at any time of year, but the best period is late summer/autumn, from July/August to October, so that they can be planted and give a good display of flowers the following spring.

Cold-hardy, they are happy to stay outdoors in winter; if grown in a pond they can be placed in water to a maximum depth of 15-20 cm. They flower in May/June.
